Medications
Prescription medications in addition to, not instead of, lifestyle changes can be a positive way to meet your weight-loss goals. We do not prescribe controlled drugs, but have several other options including
Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) agonists (also known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, incretin mimetics, or GLP-1 analogs).
Counseling + Nutrition
For weight-loss without the use of medication, we will develop a plan that includes nutritional and physical activity to support your journey. Please specify you are wanting a nutrition consultation when making your appointment.
This service is also available as an adjunct to our prescription medication program as a separate consultation. These appointments are usually 45-60 min in length due to the amount of information reviewed.

What is prescription facilitated weight-loss?
There are several medications that are considered tools that can be utilized to achieve weight-loss goals. These medications have been shown to be effective for people who have been unable to lose weight using exercise or dieting alone. The most common of these are the class of drugs known as GLP-1 agonist or the "skinny shot." Weight loss can vary depending on which GLP-1 drug you use, your dose, and your biology. All medications are considered tools, and not a cure. Obesity is a chronic condition in most cases and these medications require lifestyle changes to maintain any weight-loss.
What are the requirements of prescription weight-loss medications?
A body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater is required to initiate prescription medications in most cases. However, a BMI of 27 with pre-existing conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), hypercholesterolemia (elevated cholesterol), or Type 2 diabetes. You can calculate your own BMI here by inputting your height and weight.
What if I don’t qualify for prescription weight loss?
We will be happy to discuss other options to help you implement lifestyle changes to support your weight-loss goals.
How long does it take for weight loss medication to work?
Many prescription weight-loss patients will experience weight loss within 12 weeks. Results vary based on biology, lifestyle, and medication being used.
How much does it cost?
Initial consultations for prescription medication based weight-loss are $75. Follow-up appointments are every 4 weeks ($50/ea). Nutrition counseling appointments are $100 and follow-ups are also every 4 weeks ($50./ea). The cost of prescription medications is dependent and variable to the medication being prescribed. GLP-1 agonist medications range from $255-$900.
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance. We strive to provide our services at a reasonable price that ensures the highest level of quality and care.
